Green soft lump

Loose (soft blobs with edges)

A breastfed baby’s poo is loose most of the time, and grainy or seedy at other times. A formula-fed baby’s poo may be thicker than a breastfed baby’s. If the poo is frothy or contains mucous or blood, please discuss with your healthcare professional. Sudden changes in your baby’s poo frequency, consistency, and colour require more specific attention, especially if there has been no change in your baby’s diet. If you are concerned, always consult your healthcare professional. If you’d like to discuss your little one’s poos with a midwife, dietitian or nutritionist, you can speak to our Careline. Our caring and committed team are ready to answer all your baby poo questions.

Green

Green poos occur frequently in babies that take iron-supplements. Green poos can also be common with Extensively Hydrolysed Formulas due to faster transit time through the gut and exposure to bile acid. Dark green poos are generally not a cause for concern. This is not a medical assessment or diagnosis. It is general information only. Always seek the advice of your healthcare professional.
